Gong Club members Pat and Connie Spellman were preparing to attend the New York City St. Patrick's Day parade when their pagers went off for a canteen run to a multiple-alarm fire in the Kearny-Harrison Meadowlands. Duty called and they responded to the fire to serve refreshments and hot dogs to firefighters from three counties, which broke their annual March tradition. The pair kept their Irish hats on, and they were at the parade in spirit.
