A fire caused severe damage to Sip & Dunk on Kearny Avenue this morning, forcing the closure of the eatery, Kearny Fire Department Deputy Chief Robert Osborn said. The fire is believed to have started in the circuit breaker room just off the kitchen area, according to Osborn.
No one was injured in the blaze, and firefighters rescued a dog that had been in the second-floor apartment above the Sip & Dunk. Osborn says the fire spread through voids in the walls of the building, leading to the damage in the eatery and the smoke damage on the second floor.
We'll have the entire story in the April 11 edition of The Observer. For now, here are two videos taken at the fire scene, and a series of photos from inside and outside the building.
